In October, another project was submitted, which was developed within the network. The project is to be carried out in cooperation between the two partners WDI Costumized Panels GmbH & Co. KG and the Department of Sustainability in Light Metal Construction at RWTH Aachen University.
With the joint project of Rudolf Wiegmann Industriemontagen GmbH and the teaching and research field of sustainability in lightweight metal construction of RWTH Aachen University, the fourth project within our network has been approved.
We wish many exciting results and a successful project!
We are pleased that the next and thus third project from our network in the ZIM program of the BMWi has been approved.
We congratulate the project partners Krehle GmbH and the Department of Sustainability in Lightweight Metal Construction at RWTH Aachen University and wish them a successful project!
The second project created within our network has been approved. The project partners BOLLE System- und Modulbau GmbH as well as the teaching and research field of sustainability in lightweight metal construction at RWTH Aachen University are starting an exciting development and we wish them every success!
After successful completion of the first phase, the NawaMe innovation network received the official "Go" for phase 2 in April. The network activities were already seamlessly continued in January
2020. Phase 2 will also focus on the continuation of the developments that have already been successfully started and the elaboration of new project ideas.
The joint meeting at the network partner Rudolf Wiegmann Industriemontagen planned for the end of March was postponed to 03.09.2020 due to the current situation. In order to nevertheless exchange
information within the network, the first digital network meeting "NawaMe" took place on 24.03.2020. Among others, the new network partner WDI CP introduced itself at the meeting. In addition,
the current progress, especially in the new projects, was discussed.
With the start of phase 2, we have managed to add the company WDI Customized Panels GmbH & Co. KG to the network. The company has a unique expertise in the manufacturing of custom insulation panels. It can produce a huge variety of product variants to meet customer requirements in its own production facilities.
As well as different sizes and thicknesses, that includes a wide range of insulation types that can be selected based on the purpose of use. The company has 35 years of experience in manufacturing to rely on. We are delighted to welcome WDI CP GmbH & Co. KG to the network.
Three project applications based on current work by the network were submitted to funding authorities in December 2019. The applications were from the network partners Rudolf Wiegmann Industriemontagen GmbH, BOLLE System- und Modulbau GmbH and Krehle GmbH.
It is intended to carry out each of the projects in collaboration with the research and teaching field “Sustainability in Lightweight Metal Construction” at RWTH Aachen University.
Following the positive response from funding authorities to the development project by ESZ Becker GmbH and the Institute of Building Materials Research, Building Maintenance and Repair and Structural Polymer Composites in Construction at RWTH Aachen University (ibac), the two partners submitted the full project applications at the end of June.
Additional project ideas from other network partners are currently in the detailed project specification phase.

The companies and scientific institutions in the NawaMe network of innovation have come together with the collective vision of developing new hybrid materials and high-quality construction products for lightweight metal construction from renewable resources and recyclable materials.
For the kick-off event, the network partners met at RWTH Aachen University for one of its first major exchanges at network level. Alongside the preparation of a schedule and a discussion of how the network will present itself collectively, highlights included the submission of various research and development ideas by the different working groups, which were vigorously discussed.
